Just be sure that 1&1 is working with Lay Theme.

And do you think the Essential is enough or better the Business one?

any host with the newest Wordpress running is good.
Personally I do not like 1&1. Dreamhost is my choice. But well…

it is just a big provider who do probably not help you that much if you really need help.
Too many client requests. But that is my personal experience.

Probably all is good with 1&1.
