Lightbox not working in Safari 13.1.1
-
Dear William @gauchedamned
Thank you for updating:
Some first steps of debugging if you will:- Wordpress, Lay Theme & Laytheme's Addons are all up to date?
- Any Custom CSS or JS that may interfere is temporarily removed.
- And third-party plugins de-activated to see if this resolves the issue.
If these do not help:
Could you please send your website address, /wp-admin/ username and password and a link to this topic to info@laytheme.com?And will try to get this Bug sorted out as soon as possible William :)
Sincerely
Richard -
Yes, the site is www.williameadon.com
It's working fine in Chrome, so i would assume safari should run well. Just happened to open it in safari and found it was not working.
Yes, everything is up to date. -
Have forwarded this one :)
Cool use of Paypal buttons as well
Best

Cool,
I also just had a zoom with my photo agency and other people on there checked out the site and reported that the lightbox is not working on their browsers either. Worrisome to me.. They were all using Chrome. However, I am also using Chrome and it has always worked fine for me.. Albeit an older version of Mac OS here.. Hi Sierra 10.13.6 for me.. but they were reporting various versions.. Out of 5 people on the zoom, mine was the only one Lightbox worked. So, it's very strange to me.. I have never had any problems with it on my Chrome. Please advise -
@Richard-K
I have also noticed the "return to top" button on Safari is not working as well. I have no way to test it for chrome, because everything is working fine for me on my computer. I'd have to get to anther computer to do so. Please advise,

Hey @gauchedamned
Sorry about the delay,
Some of your images don't seem to load on safari:
https://williameadon.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/9-1-265x353.jpgIn Safari'S console I see this error:
Failed to load resource: The operation couldn’t be completed. (kCFErrorDomainCFNetwork error 303.)Upon googling the error I found this:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/49927327/website-ok-on-firefox-but-not-on-safari-kcferrordomaincfnetwork-error-303-neitI think its probably a webhost/webserver issue because an image doesn't even load, when I go to its .jpg URL directly:
https://williameadon.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/9-1-265x353.jpgOn Chrome, some of your images don't load either:
Failed to load resource: net::ERR_HTTP2_SERVER_REFUSED_STREAM
11:27:27.968When googling, I found this, which also points to a server-side error:
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/63730523/google-chrome-returns-err-http2-server-refused-stream-for-ajax-callYou could write your webhost support and just copy paste my text above.

Ok, I checked the lightbox on Chrome and Safari 13.1 on MacOS Catalina 10.15.4 and it worked
Safari 11.1:
Safari 14:
It also works on Chrome version 50 which is kind of old:
If you could email me a link to this topic here and the browser versions and OS versions where the lightbox does not work to info@laytheme.com that would help!

@Richard-K
In cases like this when someone has done all the steps like updating everything and removing custom code, when something does not work it is always good to take a look at the console. In chrome:
command + option + jAnd then you can see if there are errors in the console when you're trying to do what doesn't work for the user and these errors might lead to the solution.

And I couldn't find a scroll to top button on your website, so I couldn't test it on your website

Hi Armin,
Yes I got it working before you checked.. I had some time to sit with a friend over the phone while he refreshed his browser as i ticked off/on plugins..
The problem was that i was not able to see errors in my own site bc i am looking at it on my browser? dunno.. but i was not able to see anything that was happening.
The problem seemed to be solved by unticking an option I had set on a newly installed plugin "WP Rocket" - under File optimization > "Load Javascript deferred". Turning off this feature was able to solve the problem.. For anyone that encounters this problem in the future.Not sure about these pictures not loading.. I am not seeing that on my end..
I had couple of question as well..
Is there any way to increase the threshold for lazyload on Laytheme so that pictures start to load earlier? I'm thinking that could enhance the perceived load time of my site.I am also wondering if more refinements will be added to lightbox or perhaps already have? Most curious about being able to control distance "between" image in lightbox.. make them closer together? Here is an example..

Regards, William -
Also i found this lightbox option nice where you are able to escape out of lightbox and back into main by scrolling down..

Oh well, would have been great if you had deactivated all plugins as Richard recommended as the first step to solving this issue.

No, there isn't.
Ah interesting ideas for the lightbox, i'll write them down. Currently my focus is on other things though

Yes, I had followed his instructions and done the unchecking on my own browser unwittingly. My bad. It wasn't until the interval between messages that I realized it was only working for me. I then recruited a friend to go over it on the phone with me separately on their browser while I unchecked plug-ins and that worked. I did not understand that I would not be able to see changes on my browser? Still not sure as I am not a web designer. Is there an easier way to check this on my own in the future?

mmh not sure!!
