Will Laytheme ever support WooCommerce?
-
Dear @lortnok
In regards to Completion of Woo-commerce integration.
Armin:
" That's really hard to say, I'm working on this everyday and there are many details to work on. It is really hard to estimate and it will be done when it is finished. We're working on it every day!."Best

@Richard-K any update? I think I will have to switch to another theme considering that we are talking about a woocommerce integration since 2016? Honestly I was quite enthusiastic about laytheme when Armin said there is a chance that WooCommerce integration will come this year. Now I started to feel there is basically no deadline set for this task, and I really need a webshop especially in this situation, and cannot afford waiting for it for another year, even 6 months would be very painful. I would be quite surprised if I am the only one. Why not hire someone who could help you developing the integration, I am sure you will have plenty of income to cover that after the integration is done.
P.S.:
Happy holidays! -
Dear @lortnok
Thank you for this post Lortnok, I think it's really important to hear this and get an understanding of what you and likely many others are thinking.
Im sorry if i haven't been as helpful as possible for this. Maybe you already know of these but i have to suggest it
Shopify buy buttons:
https://www.shopify.com/buy-buttonAnd Paypal:
https://www.paypal.com/buttons/These may work for your needs until Woo-commerce integration is here,
I would really love to keep you on the Side of Lay Theme however i fully understand if you need to look for other options & if no true deadline is set i can see your point of view clearlyJust wanted to write this to connect and also wish you a happy 2021, thank you for your thoughts and when we can provide what is needed for you to stick with lay Theme, you will be back on this forum once more :)
Sincerely, with best wishes

Hey @lortnok I'm working on it. It will surely take less than 6 months.
Happy 2021!If you need to make sure you sell as early as possible and don't want to wait you can of course use a different solution, like squarespace or shopify or something like that!

I believe you guys are doing a great work with Laytheme nevertheless I also agree with @lortnok about not even having a deadline or an official ETA for its release. This would be rather a mature step for Laytheme but also an honest way of communicating to people so they are not on the limbo of either just waiting for this to happen or take the decision to move the content to another platform.

yes @umdoistres you're right.
i'm doing my best, a few months ago I told everyone it will take a few months but then I realised it is more work than expected.in my experience oftentimes development takes longer than expected and is hard to estimate because new challenges keep popping up
i'm posting stories on my instagram @laytheme about the progress and i'm sorry it takes so long
if you'd ask me now how long it will take and you'd really need a deadline I'd say end of March or mid-March
-
thanks for the reply @arminunruh - we know you are doing your best - on my side I just think its the lack of info regarding the roadmap of the project that causes uncertainty.
I just saw your update on laytheme's instagram regarding the integration, whats done and future work - thanks for providing that info - And... its looking great! I'm really excited about its release - it will add a lot of value to the theme! congrats!

@umdoistres yes of course , I also appreciate the hard work, but to be realistic, if the integration will be released in March, it will likely to be a beta with glitches and, will take some time to really get a usable woocommerce integration. I am not here to complain, just wanted to say this for others, and suggest to not expect a fully working integration when it is released. Why do I think this? Well if I look back at the previous releases and upgrades, there were almost always glitches in the beginning and took some time to fix them. but hey, I guess it's normal especially when the development is done by a very small team.
Just to conclude, I bought Laytheme as a porfolio site template, and I have to tell that it worked perfectly for that purpose. My needs have been changed, that is why I was very happy to hear the good news about the Woocommerce integration a year ago or so. If this could have been done a little more quickly then there would be no reason to switch from Laytheme. Its not just about how much time it takes to get the integration done, but logically if it takes this long then it will also take quite some time to fix the issues. -
Sure @lortnok there will be a phase where people will use a beta version of lay theme with shop support so we can see if it all works.
If your needs changed sure why not use a different solution! -
@arminunruh exactly, doesn't make sense to wait for something that is not happening.
