carousel lag lazyload between next image
-
this visual lag can be seen / happens when images aren't cached yet, for:
-
single-image carousels (turned lazy load back on to show the harsh break between images, compared to hitting prev image once loaded and there's no break): https://vincea48.sg-host.com/
-
lightbox plugin: https://vincea48.sg-host.com/index/
-
multiple-images, scroll based carousel: https://memoriadi.com/
-
-
also one more new bug just noticed with the recent lightbox/laytheme updates– on iOS safari, clicking on the left/right of the screen advances you to the next/prev image. on iOS chrome browser, this tap to swipe is no longer functional ;(
-
great photos!
you're right, im looking into these things now
-
okay, can you update the carousel addon now?
i fixed the images flashing when using transition immediate. lmk if it works for you.so that would be 1 out of 3 issues resolved, will look at the other issues shortly
-
alright now also update the lightbox addon and that one should be fixed as well
-
ok now i released a carousel update that will preload more images when using show multiple slides. you can update and see if that makes this website work better: https://memoriadi.com/
ok that should be 3/3 things solved

hi armin, and thank you for looking into these issues! i think your updates absolutely made a difference in some regards but i'm not sure where these two issues come from:
1.) memoriadi.com there is a flash of the carousel loading in, then it disappears for one second before reappearing again. are you seeing this as well on initial page load? curious what's causing the in-out-in there..
2.) i think that for some reason, on https://vincea48.sg-host.com/ the carousel loading between current and next image got slower? the next image is taking longer to load between clicks now (before theyre cached).
3.) when i open the first lightbox image on any website (before it's cached, that i've used laytheme / siteground on) the first opened lightbox image takes super long to show up (zoom effect happens on the lo res, page then goes blank screen for a super long while before hi res image loads in). this delayed feels super awkward and curious if you know what's causing it the long break between LR and HR here? it's only noticeavle when the 'zoom' transition is used, i think with fade it's less noticeable. e.g.: https://vincea48.sg-host.com/index/ , https://adamwhyte.nyc/photography/

1.: what browser? i dont see a flash
- this website doesnt exist
https://vincea48.sg-host.com/
3.: might be because there are hundreds of images on that website
you might just want to turn off that animation alltogether in lay options → lightbox addon - this website doesnt exist
-
btw the photos ure doing are amazing!
-
thank you for the kind words about the photos armin! <3
re: #1
it looks like it's happening in chrome, not at all in safari.
i did a screen recording of the issue with the lightbox going flashing, in this case it's going blank for longer than previously experienced: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BArDR9EB3jl4FcLkAYVVoCoa0PqACcl7/view?usp=sharingre: #2
i moved that site to a live domain since my last post: https://vinceaung.com/index/re: #3
that could be it?! for some reason, it only happens the first time the page is loaded / the first time the lightbox feature is used on the page. you are correct, changing the lightbox transition to 'fade' instead of 'zoom' removes the issue, since now that brief moment where the screen is blank feels purposeful. i'm not sure what's causing this to happen specifically in chrome as opposed to safari, though! so weird.. either way thank you so much for taking the time to look into the matter i really appreciate it -
actually yeah its still pretty bad :O
i need to improve this
the issue is about how i implemented the lazyloading of the high-res images inside the lightbox
-
can you update the lightbox plugin now and see if it works? (with zoom)
-
wowwwww it's perfect now! thank you so much armin, the experience of these sites just improved x10000 :'))) <3
-
amazing im glad it works!! :)
