Hi! Yes, I would also appreciate the possibility of using the text instead of the image. Also, regarding the image: Would be nice to set the size and padding in %, not only in px.

this is the css u need to put the sitetitle and navigation in front of the overlay

and if u update lay theme now there is %, px settings for overlays and "x-close icon" now has a text setting with "icon type"

I am looking for an entry about the burger button as text. Right now it only can be an image, right? Or is there an option for text? :-D

you could create a menu that has one link in it:

in lay options, choose menus amount: 2

then in appearance → menus,
create the menu and add the page that is your overlay.
now in customize → menus change the position etc of your menu
