3rd project thumbnail option
-
[PAID] I'm looking for someone knowledgable on using 3rd party plugins, or finnessing laytheme, to either: help install a plugin, or help figure out how to add a 3rd project thumbnail image option (currently laytheme supports two, 1 main and 1 mouseover thumbnail). I'm hoping to achieve a 3rd thumbnail and then code it in so when the user clicks a project thumbnail image, the image will change to the next thumbnail, basically creating 1-3 image carousels in a project thumbnail grid. I can code the carousel part myself but not sure how to get the 3rd possible thumbnail image option for posts. thank you for anyone reading.

hey im a fan of the lay theme websites you created!
so basically you want a feature where a project thumbnail can be a carousel?
and would they just transition via autoplay? -
thank you armin, that's very kind of you and means so much! i have been super thankful to be able to make a lot of sites recently with laytheme, it's become my favorite <3
to explain in further detail what i think could be a really cool feature for laytheme:
basically what i'm hoping for here is something that would be separate, yet complimentary, to the "Project Description for Thumbnail" function: instead of text, choosing a selection of 'preview images' (anywhere between 1-5+ maybe). i've been seeing similar features implemented in a lot of portfolio sites recently, where multiple thumbnails are used to preview projects (sometimes all are visible on hover like here), sometimes they're cycled through carousel-style instead, which is what i'm going for):
- in the WP back-end, a project page would have the option for 'preview images' in addition to the thumbnail 'description' / 'preview text'
- in front-end on the website, on a project thumbnail grid, the user can click left/right between the preview images like a prev/next carousel? and on mobile the user could tap or swipe AND swipe through them for optimal UI / UX ?
- there would be no autoplay function on this specific implementation, since there could be so many projects in a grid, this could be overwhelming to have them all autoplaying and it's multi-column / multiple rows visible
i could explain the concept of this in detail over email, but essentially this could be like a new 'preview images' function for project thumbnails / project thumbnail grid. and it could potentially function as all in view at the same time / on hover (like 1, 2) or as a carousel feature explained above which I'm hoping to build now.
i'm more than happy to pay or contribute for the time to build this feature if you think it's of interest to you; i would definitely be using this in a lot of future websites made with laytheme! it would be super cool to see.. lmk your thoughts (:
the current website i'm trying to implement this is here, in the pieces section. so when he adds a new furniture piece as a project page post, it will update the thumbnail grid with his new piece, and a visitor can click through multiple photos on hover. the site functions as a single page site, and i was hoping to add click-through carousels into the thumbnail grid for his Pieces. this is why i disabled pointer-events on the thumbs' links, so the user can't click into a project page. regardless though this is one small / irrelevant use case, in the several that i would hope to implement this 'preview images' feature (:

just found another example/reference of multiple 'preview images' here :) .. https://guasch.studio/

@arminunruh this specific website is being made for a friend so it's not a great budget, more of portfolio piece / passion project. but i would personally like to pay you for this since i would be using this on a number of websites in the future. emailing you now (:
