hey you can try the new overlay feature
    https://laytheme.com/documentation/overlays.html
    https://www.instagram.com/p/CvII57wrp7V/

i think if you insert an image into a page, then right click the image and then set a link to a page that has overlay turned on,

then that page will open as an overlay

you just want to be able to click an image or a link and then a popup should appear right

@arminunruh thank you for your response.

I will try it. Even though it means a lot of work because I now have to create a unique page for every single video.
With having several directors and many videos on our homepage this obviously is quite a hustle.

Maybe it would be an option to create an add-on to have the possibility to just drop a link into a player and then the video coming from vimeo or youtoube or uploaded is being shown as a pop up like it already works with fotos in the lightbox add on.

I will check out your approach and see if it woks for us.
    Thank you.

@locolor Hey ! I just used the plugin WP Video Popup (https://wp-video-popup.com) for a recent project and it seems to work perfectly. I added a row where I put the shortcode and was hiding it via css.

      hope this helps :)

@ffinger hey, thank you for the hint. So would it also work if I have a thumbnail video and I click on the thumbnail video and then it pops up? Where would I put the shortcode?

@locolor Hey yes that should work. You just need to add the shortcode with the youtube or vimeo link like this to a row anywhere on the page

          [wp-video-popup video="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlUKcNNmywk"]

          and then hide the row via css like with display:none;
Then the element you want to be the trigger needs to have the class "wp-video-popup", so like

          <a href="#" class="wp-video-popup">Play Video</a>

If you want to trigger multiple video pop ups you need the pro version though. There's a good documentation here on the plugin's page: https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/responsive-youtube-vimeo-popup/#description

          Cheers
          Felix

@arminunruh hi armin, thx i tried this and it works well for me! but when i close the overlay-page the video keeps running and you can still hear the sound of the video. is it possible that closing the overlay-page triggers pausing the video?

Hello @arminunruh any progress on this "video keeps running" when we close the overlay? Will be very useful for one of my project. Thanks!
