Autoplay through insta bio link
-
Whenever I click visit my website through an instagram bio link the autoplay of the videos on the website won't play until i click on the empty space that is there instead.
When I set a placeholder image with the custom play button it works – so the problem has to be the autoplay that works different when accessed through instagram.
Any ideas how I can fix this or is it an internal instagram error?
Website is wienastrada.com accessed through instagram.com/wienastrada e.g. on the "Incense holder" subpage.

nice website
in lay options can u turn off both of these and see if that changes anything
-
Thanks! They were turned off already and the other options also didn't change anything unfortunately. Do you think it might be Instagram's in-app browser?
-
hey i tried it out and the instagram browser blocks any html5 video playback, no matter what combination of configurations you use
i made this page
its not lay theme, just a html page with a videotag inside
https://arminunruh.com/videotest/when i put it as a link on my instagram, the video will never autoplay, no matter what i try
-
Alright so then I probably have to do it without autoplay for this website cause instagram is where most people probably access it from.
Thanks anyways! -
One more question: i still don't understand why the first frame of the video is not even visible and there's just a blank space instead. So i guess it is not just autoplay that causes the problem. Do you have an idea?
-
yea i dont understand it either
probably they expect your video to have a poster attribute that is a url to an image -
Alright, thanks a lot!
