multiple categories

@arminunruh Just realized this radio buttons update which is in deed clever but it breaks websites which are made under a structure like this :
- WORK (all the projects)
- CATEGORY1 (projects from WORK with specific category)
- CATEGORY2 (projects from WORK with specific category)
- …
Would it be possible to make a special category where all the projects are put automatically ? Like this if we click on a project we can see it and then browse between the projects of this category…
Or maybe the project could just loop between all the projects depending on their ID and not depending from categories.
Thank you.

So what you are saying is you would like the project arrows to navigate through all projects. Instead of just through the projects of the current category. Hm. Right now thats not possible but I could make an option for that one day!

Dear Armin,
First of all thank you for making Lay, it's an outstanding theme.
I was wondering if the option to check multiple categories has been disabled again in recent updates: i have 1.7.1 installed but I only see radio buttons (and not checkboxes) either with project arrows disabled or enabled.
Specifically what I'd need to do would be to assign more than a category, occasionally, to a single project. What am I getting wrong?
Many thank in advance!

Hey Enrico, thx a lot!
I decided to only make it possible to have one category for a project.
The problem was that people wanted it to be possible that a "next project link" always goes to the next project of the same category. But if a project has multiple categories, that option wouldn't work.
You can still add any project of any category to a category overview (to the gridder when editing a category. Would that be enough for you or is something not working right because you cannot assign multiple categories? Do you want to assign multiple categories to have a better overview in the backend? Or is it something specific to the website (frontend)?

Ciao Armin,
Thank you so much, the explanation makes pretty much sense ;)
It's perfectly ok regarding the front-end, yes it was something to have a "proper" categorization of hybrid projects in the back end – no worries though, it's not an issue at all.

Hi @arminunruh, I just discovered lay theme a few weeks ago and I have to say is awesome!
We are creating a museum and gallery website using lay theme and this feature @man said is what we miss to filter and relate artworks to artists easily instead of manually.
Thanks in advance
-
Thx!
ok so you want to be able to filter project thumbnails. like here for example http://meireundmeire.com/category/selected-projects/
-
@arminunruh Yes! and like is happening there, some projects are using more than one category.
-
@arminunruh Indeed, this filter function would be very useful, I was looking for it too!
-
Ok, need to work on this :D
-
@arminunruh Hi Armin, any luck so far with this filter function?
-
Hi sjg123,
so far we did not complete this issue. We are working on a big Update for Laytheme in general and might include it in one of the coming releases.
Thank you for waiting! :-)

hi marius and armin, are there any news with the filter function? it would be great to have more than one category to eject. the sample from meiré meiré is great! i would like to use the "thumbnail grid" and want to show on the frontpage a selection of projects. it would be great if you can help! and by the way i don´t use the "next project" button, i only want a new category where i can put in selected works.
cheers r -
Hi ruwie!
No news yet. Sorry to disappoint! We got it on the screen but the next release is not finished yet! :-)
Some things need time :-)
Thank you for your patience!

yes please: with multiple categories Lay would be unbeatable! With a Blog option and hierarchical menus extra-unbeatable.

Hello @badjuju
we see if we can implement it in the near future!Until then: Merry Christmas!
