Webfonts missing after update (with resolution)
-
Hi
Have seen others with this or a very similar issue. After updating either Wordpress (4.9.6) and/or Laytheme (2.5.5) today, my Webfonts disappeared from my site.
I noticed after reverting to a backup, that the /fonts folder inside (public_html/wp-content/themes/lay/) from my files has been wiped. Strangely, this can't be added back in saying that it already exists.
A resolution for this is to:
-
Make a new fonts folder (with a different name) and add files back into:
public_html/wp-content/themes/lay/ -
Update the link tag in Webfonts > Font manager
Admins, do you know what the cause of this is?
Thanks

Dear @aduckett
I do not have that issue but will check with Armin what could be the problem.
Best!

hey your webfont files shouldn't be in your theme folder.
when you add a .woff webfont in "Lay Options" -> "Webfonts", they are uploaded to your "uploads" folder. -
Everytime you update lay theme, your whole "lay" folder is replaced, deleting all changes you have made to files in there.

Thank you for looking into this.
The font file types (purchased from and supplied from Optimo) are EOT and SVG. Would this affect things at all?
Thanks for pointing out the placement of the files, I'll move soon. Weirdly, this is the first update where I've noticed the issue happening.

please convert the font to woff:
https://www.google.de/search?q=eot+to+woff&oq=eot+to+woff&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.1324j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8to be able to upload it via "lay options" -> "webfonts"
Before you post:
- When using a WordPress Cache plugin, disable it or clear your cache.
- Update Lay Theme and all Lay Theme Addons
- Disable all Plugins
- Go to Lay Options → Custom CSS & HTML, click "Turn Off All Custom Code", click "Save Changes"
This often solves issues you might run into
When you post:
- Post a link to where the problem is
- Does the problem happen on Chrome, Firefox, Safari or iPhone or Android?
- If the problem is difficult to explain, post screenshots / link to a video to explain it
