Yes! You can place (almost) any content inside the rows as usual and activate the fullscreen slider for the desired page. Every row then becomes a slide. With above you mean on the image (fig. 01) or over the image (fig. 02)? on-over.jpg
fig.01: This could be achieved by placing the two elements together in a stack and then adjust the position of the text/image via right click → spaces and offset → y-offset.
fig.02: Just use a stack and group the contents together that way. If you just want total control and freedom I’d go for the Fullscreen Slider. It’s a bit more flexible. You can just place two or more images in one slide, using the gridder rows for your layout.
The Carousel on the other hand is more like a simple one-image-at-a-time classic slider. But you are able to configure the carousel to realise fig.01 as well as fig. 02 in the addon’s options. Unlike the Fullscreen Slider there is no need to stack elements and adjust the y-offset to get that look.

It sounds like that you would be better off with the Carousel Addon. If you could provide a sketch/draft or link to a site to show what you are trying to achieve it would be much easier to recommend one or the other, though.

    Hope that helps!

    Hey Sascha!
Yea, what you want is not easily possible at the moment :/
I'm writing this down and gonna think about how to best solve this

Yea fullscreen slider doesn't have a fade option. But right now that's the closest you can get with your idea.
Maybe it would be enough if the fullscreen slider addon had a fade option.

    Hey bennie!

I am sending you an email with some login data to try out lay theme and the addons for yourself.

With the lay theme carousel you can have slides with images and captions and a counter yes. By clicking on the image you can go to the next slide, yes. You cannot have different positions of the images depending on the slide no. For this maybe the fullscreen slider addon is better with the horizontal option activated. The fullscreenslider is different and i think it would make sense for you to try both addons. Also with the fullscreenslider on phone your content will be stacked, while with the carousel addon it will still be a carousel also on a phone.

Theres no support for an index page with all the images of a fullscreen slider or a carousel.

The site http://tomordoyno.com/ has a different url for each image. Its not really a slider, but just many subpages that contain an image. You could recreate this by creating a project for each image. (Maybe using a vertically centered image like here: http://laytheme.com/documentation.html#vertically-center-content)
Each project has a "project thumbnail". You could add the "project thumbnails" to an overview page by using the "+Project" button in the Gridder. This way you would have an index page with all images. For navigating between the images you could use the "Project Arrows" feature: http://laytheme.com/documentation.html#project-arrows

Contact details / Name can stay fixed, yes. The name can be the site title (Customize -> Site Title -> Site Title) and your contact details could be the site tagline (Customize -> Site Title -> Site Tagline).

Can I set/alter the positions of all the elements through the html/css editor?

No, this is better done using the gridder itself but any other css changes you can do.

Can I set/alter the positions of all the elements through the html/css editor?

    No

Hey, yeah that's right. You just need to create a page in "Pages" and then set it as the frontpage in the customizer.

The slideshow will come as an addon. Right now I'm working on an update for Lay Theme and then I will work on the slideshow addon.

Before you post:
  1. When using a WordPress Cache plugin, disable it or clear your cache.
  2. Update Lay Theme and all Lay Theme Addons
  3. Disable all Plugins
  4. Go to Lay Options → Custom CSS & HTML, click "Turn Off All Custom Code", click "Save Changes"

This often solves issues you might run into

When you post:
  1. Post a link to where the problem is
  2. Does the problem happen on Chrome, Firefox, Safari or iPhone or Android?
  3. If the problem is difficult to explain, post screenshots / link to a video to explain it
