How to work on laytheme but offline?
-
Hello everyone,
I've installed LayTheme.
However, I'm new to WordPress and I don't understand why I can't work offline in LayTheme. Can someone explain this to me?
As soon as LayTheme is active, I can work in the layout.
If I set the website to "Under construction" using another theme, LayTheme is naturally no longer used as the active theme and therefore not available in WordPress to work on the layout.
I have now published a "One-Page" site online.
But now I want to design and finish my website in LayTheme. Only then would I activate the LayTheme website online.
Can someone tell me how to do this?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards, dc

I would suggest to create a 'Coming Soon' page. Set it as your Front Page.
.slug-coming-soon .footer { display:none; } .slug-coming-soon .sitetitle { display:none; } .slug-coming-soon .laynav { display:none; }
use this CSS to hide the Site Title, Menu & Footer from the 'Coming Soon' page.
Now work comfortably on your Home page, without it being visible for public.

yes! or you can use a coming soon plugin
you can also use lay theme offline:
https://laytheme.com/tutorials/how-to-create-a-laytheme-website.html#download-lay-theme-and-localbut then you have to transfer that page to an online server using a plugin like duplicator or backup migration: https://wordpress.org/plugins/backup-backup/
https://laytheme.com/tutorials/how-to-create-a-laytheme-website.html#get-webhostingits much easier to just create your website online instead of offline and then moving it to an online server

@arminunruh
This entails more work for me. I had assumed it was possible to simply deactivate the theme offline and work on it. Then, when I'm finished, I could just put it online. But it seems that's not how it works...
Before you post:
- When using a WordPress Cache plugin, disable it or clear your cache.
- Update Lay Theme and all Lay Theme Addons
- Disable all Plugins
- Go to Lay Options → Custom CSS & HTML, click "Turn Off All Custom Code", click "Save Changes"
This often solves issues you might run into
When you post:
- Post a link to where the problem is
- Does the problem happen on Chrome, Firefox, Safari or iPhone or Android?
- If the problem is difficult to explain, post screenshots / link to a video to explain it
