mailto: link issue
-
Hello,
I noticed an issue with the "mailto:" link. When I input a new email link like "mailto:your@email.com", instead of opening my email program as usual, it opens a new tab to Microsoft.com, Google.com, or Yahoo.com (it varies depending on the email provider). I'm confused because I've always done this and it's worked fine. If you have a solution, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank you very much !

Yes, I can confirm the issue. When 'mailto:...' is entered in the link field, it is not transferred to the code but changed to a www-url. Lay Theme Version: 7.1.3

ure talking about two different things i think!
so @Eloha this just comes down to what email program is set as your default program!
are u sure u are entering it like this? for me this works!
can u go to appearance → themes in /wp-admin/ and make sure u dont have like 2 lay themes installed and have the old version activated or sth
cause i fixed this a very long time ago
-
Thank you, @arminunruh, for taking the time!
Maybe it's a different problem, dunno.
I haven't installed a second lay theme and as you recommended, I deactivated all plugins and cleared the cache before testing.Yes, the source code method works fine, I will work with it, the "set link" does not work. But maybe I will re-download and re-install the theme in the next days.
WP 6.5.3/ LT 7.1.3

Thanks

hi @openair,
If you click on these square brackets, you can change the source code.
Here you can set a link 'mailto:openair@openair.com' like Armin explained:
-
@jpunivers thanks!!

It seems that this issue has returned? My "mailto:" link is no longer working on https://patternsofmigration.com/online-exhibition/ It's the styled button link towards the bottom of the page... I also tried it unstyled, with the same problem
-
@billykioso Can't see a problem. It works.
-
Yes, it seems to work on my phone, but it doesn't work on any browser on my Macbook. But thank you for looking!
-
-
hmm I got the same problem. Never before had any problems with this :S
-
okay i get crazy. Google Chrome ist uptodate, Safari up to date. But mailto link is not working.
On Tablet & Iphone it's no problem in both browsers :S -
does the link in the code look like this?
<a href="mailto:myemail@gmail.com">hello</a>
specifically the href part?
if yes, the code is correct. maybe there is no app configured to open the mailto linkhttps://support.apple.com/en-us/102362#:~:text=From the Mail menu in,reader” pop-up menu.
Need custom programming for your Lay Theme site?
I regularly add new features to Lay Theme for free, based on user feedback. But if you or your client need something more specific, I’m happy to offer custom paid programming tailored to your project.
Email info@laytheme.com with the subject "Custom paid programming for Lay Theme" and a short description of what you need — I’ll reply with a cost estimate.
Custom features I build often make it into future Lay Theme updates, so your idea might benefit the whole community.
Before you post:
- When using a WordPress Cache plugin, disable it or clear your cache.
- Update Lay Theme and all Lay Theme Addons
- Disable all Plugins
- Go to Lay Options → Custom CSS & HTML, click "Turn Off All Custom Code", click "Save Changes"
This often solves issues you might run into
When you post:
- Post a link to where the problem is
- Does the problem happen on Chrome, Firefox, Safari or iPhone or Android?
- If the problem is difficult to explain, post screenshots / link to a video to explain it
