I've built a new home page but the old one keeps showing. I've made the new page the front page in the 'reading' menu in Wordpress.

    What I've done so far:

    • hard deleted the old page from Wordpress, but now only the associated footer with the old page shows
    • emptied cache on browser
    • used W3 plugin to empty cache in Wordpress
    • checked on computers that didn't visit my site previously
    • reset permalinks
    • copied the new home and set the copied version as home

I've set up a redirect plugin so people see the page they should. But without, it still refers to the old home page.

    Attached images show:

    • correct page set as 'front page'
    • image showing the actual content of the home page
    • when I preview or publish the new home, old home (now only footer) shows

Hope you can help. Thanks in advance.

can u see if on your ftp you have a file "index.html" and delete it

make sure to set the frontpage in customize -> frontpage

then in settings -> reading, make sure the settings look something like this

@arminunruh thanks for the replies. Ive only now seen them, since I didn't get a notification.

But you have solved the issue in the most logical and basic way possible: make sure to set the frontpage in customize -> frontpage

Thanks so much. I nearly broke my head trying everything possible and did totally oversee this option :)

ah :/ yea maybe it was a little dumb to put this setting there. but i had to code my own setting for this to be able to put a category as a frontpage.

I also code custom websites or custom Lay features.
            💿 Email me here: 💿
            info@laytheme.com

            Before you post:
            1. When using a WordPress Cache plugin, disable it or clear your cache.
            2. Update Lay Theme and all Lay Theme Addons
            3. Disable all Plugins
            4. Go to Lay Options → Custom CSS & HTML, click "Turn Off All Custom Code", click "Save Changes"

This often solves issues you might run into

            When you post:
            1. Post a link to where the problem is
            2. Does the problem happen on Chrome, Firefox, Safari or iPhone or Android?
            3. If the problem is difficult to explain, post screenshots / link to a video to explain it
