Fix for Critical error for 7.2.0 Lay theme Update
-
Unfortunately the update service that i used seemed to have an issue.
So only half of the files were in the last lay theme update.
This will probably lead to a critical error if you have installed this error.I just released an update 7.2.1 that contains all the files again. Sorry for the inconvenience!
If anyone has the same issue and you cannot access your website / wp-admin panel anymore:
Please go to your FTP, (find your FTP login info in your webhost control panel)
go to /wp-content/themes/then you'll see the folder "lay"
rename this folder to "_lay"This will disable the theme and you can access /wp-admin/ again and install lay.zip there in "Appearance" → "Themes" → "Upload Theme"
You can download lay theme from here:
https://kernl.us/api/v2/public/temporary-download/66b24b71c167f4a6d78f710e
(link is valid for 30 days)Or get it on www.laykeymanager.com (version 7.2.1)
This is basically the fix thats also documented here: https://laytheme.com/troubleshooting.html#critical-error
Screenshot 2024-08-06 at 18.11.10.pngNo content of your website will be affected!

Hello @arminunruh,
I emailed you two days ago about this issue but haven’t received a response. Could you please assist me?
As you explained in your post, my WP admin panel suddenly stopped appearing, so I contacted WordPress support. They replied with instructions to recover admin access, explaining that the problem was related to Laytheme. I followed their steps and regained access to the admin panel, but when I logged in, Laytheme had disappeared, and my entire website is gone.
Fortunately, I have a backup. However, I need the Laytheme update to restore my backup properly; otherwise, I’ll encounter the same issue. The link you posted to download Laytheme has expired. Could you please repost it?
Since my website is down and it’s my main platform, I need to resolve this as soon as possible.
Thank you,
