    Hi @arminunruh !
I was wondering if you had any plans to implement an overlay feature just for information boxes within projects – you can find an example here, by clicking on "more info":

    Thanks!

hey you can only do that with the normal page overlays feature
      https://laytheme.com/documentation/overlays.html

you'd need to create an extra overlay page for every project
and then link it inside of the project

@arminunruh Thank you! Would it be safe to use this for about 20 projects?

hey, so you can create many page overlays.
however, problems occur, if you link to many of them on one page.

if you have many page overlays. for example for each project you have one page overlay containing information about a project.
if you then only link to a page overlay in one single project this will be ok!

but if you have a project/page and create links to like 5-20 page overlays, this can crash iphones :/

the reason is the page overlay(s) are loaded into the html when you visit a page that contains a link to that overlay.
therefore, if you are on a page/project that links to for example 50 page overlays, the markup of all of these overlays will be in your page markup (hidden, but ready to be shown on link click)

it seems that this amount of markup is just too much for iphone safari, as processing power used for websites was capped by apple like 1,5 years ago.

project overlays work differently. only if you click on the link that opens a project overlay, only then its markup will get loaded.

Ah cool ok – In this case I'll have to create an overlay for each project, so I guess I'll be fine :) Thanks!

@arminunruh said in Overlay Feature for info within projects:

Regarding this point, I’d like to report that when a project overlay is refreshed (I know there's no good reason to do that, but our client tends to do that compulsively for some reason), the close button disappears, leaving you ‘stuck’ in the project and having to return to the main page manually.

yea for now i will leave it like this, cause otherwise i'd have to implement some kind settings for projects to know what page the underlying overlay page should be.

also when you would go on a project directly, you'd then load 2 pages at once, which can make the initial load slower :/
