Overlay Menu and SEO
-
Hi,
I have a question regarding SEO and the use of overlay menus.
If you use an overlay menu, does it impact SEO in any way?
In WordPress, menus are typically rendered as structured HTML lists (<nav>, <ul>, <li> tags), which are good for SEO. However, what if instead of a traditional menu, I load a page that contains links to my pages, and this page acts as an (overlay) menu? Would this setup affect how search engines index the site and the links?
Thanks for your insights!

hey!
mmh good question! maybe it would affect it.
maybe you can use a plugin like:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/menu-in-post/and add a shortcode to your overlay with that with +more → +shortcode

Thanks Armin! I will look into this. Looks like a good solution.

Before you post:
- When using a WordPress Cache plugin, disable it or clear your cache.
- Update Lay Theme and all Lay Theme Addons
- Disable all Plugins
- Go to Lay Options → Custom CSS & HTML, click "Turn Off All Custom Code", click "Save Changes"
This often solves issues you might run into
When you post:
- Post a link to where the problem is
- Does the problem happen on Chrome, Firefox, Safari or iPhone or Android?
- If the problem is difficult to explain, post screenshots / link to a video to explain it
