"Disable Updates for Lay Theme" Lay Theme Update (8.9.3 - 5 June 2025)
-
Hi Armin & Team,
First of all—I've been using Lay Theme since day one and loved it from the start. It's amazing to see how much passion you bring to every update. Really appreciate!
Actually, I even learned Java and CSS through working with Lay Theme, and it's gotten me to a point where I’d say I'm pretty confident now—so thank you for that! That said, I just had a quick question about the new “Disable Updates for Lay Theme” feature. I’m not quite sure in what scenario this would be useful. Could you shed some light on when or why someone might want to use it?
Thanks again for all the great work!
Jens

so i've been doing some lay theme websites for some clients of mine.
and i think its a good idea to just disable updating if its for an important client website.
and just update everything periodically and then check if everything still works.clients will sometimes also agree to pay like every half a year or sth for the website admin to update everything and then check if everything still works.
disabling laytheme updates can be good, because oftentimes people don't really need new features/changes that come with updates.
but these new features/changes can introduce new bugs.and if you get a bug on a client website,
it can be stressful, cause then the client complains, i have to fix it quickly, sometimes it can take me a long time to fix things or answer to people.if its something to do with woocommerce, it can even lead to lost sales and so on
I also code custom websites or custom Lay features.
