CDN does not work (Cloudfront)
-
Dear @zero
LayTheme is programmed as a Single Page application and uses the Gridder as content-output. It is not possible except with Shortcodes and CUSTOM HTML to show content on the webpages. How does your CDN system put the content on the website?Best!

@mariusjopen It's a CDN- and operates as such pulling files from local servers globally. (Sorry i don't know more than that)
Site uses a cache plugin WP Rocket - that integrates Amazon CloudFront. Works across all sites i've implemented it with.
What other details do you require? Sorry- not sure what else i can suggest :D
Thank you!

An update. Armin will work on this later. Solution is to use a free un supported cache plugin that does not use a CDN and has a bad rating on Wordpress.
So, i need to just wait. No ETA, no date.
I'm disappointed to be honest, I paid approx. $200 NZ for a theme that does not load properly or can use a CDN. There is no road map to when a CDN will work- which in 2018 is an industry standard. We can't all keep using low quality 1024px images when screens are 27" + in size. That's why a CDN is needed and popular.
So i guess i'll wait- and thats OK. I understand what it takes to make something that is GREAT and also operate a business. So please take your time Armin- and Good luck.
Thanks very much.

Hey Paul,
I sent you a refund. Will make this work soon I hope! <3
Sorry for this. -
Thanks Armin.
Look at these results. https://gtmetrix.com/compare/bR5Azl9n/M35oQ4Fr
Because the CDN does not work there are 282 requests and massive page size of 50MB with 20 seconds of loading. My commercial site has the same sized images and also 50mb of images and instead of 282 requests it's optimised to just 2.31 MB and 3 sec load!
I appreciate your refund but honestly- without an ETA on a working CDN- and so many other bugs i can't wait around. You really need to fix this man.
I hope you work it out. Cheers.

Does Laytheme use custom directory for images?

Dear @zero
Thank you for your message and the comparison!

Because the CDN does not work
I think this is not CDN related.
look bro that page contains 90 images.
http://forever1995.com/latest-artwork-by-paul-petcheach of these images are between like 500kb and 1.4 megabytes big.
the correct image sizes are loaded, meaning resized versions of these images are loaded.there is a difference between, page shows up and all images of the page have loaded. that page shows up and then shows images, of course 50mb needs a longer time to load but until all images have loaded you already are seeing images that have loaded.
this page contains around 80 images:
http://paulpetch.co.nz/portfolio/chelsea-sugar-operations-photography-auckland/many of these images are just 50 or 100kilobytes big. many of these images are small thumbnails, on the other page you show bigger images.
also the images are more heavily compressed. If you want to use more compression, go to "Lay Options" -> "Image Quality (.jpeg)"
Make sure to follow the instructions that you see with the description.I appreciate your refund but honestly- without an ETA on a working CDN- and so many other bugs i can't wait around. You really need to fix this man.
I have many projects I'm working on so I'm sorry I cannot give your CDN problem my full time right now. I also can't give you an ETA. There has been only one other case I believe, where someone asked if CDN worked, so this is not a high priority problem.
I thought I fixed all the bugs you had.
If you find any other bugs let me know. -
Thanks Armin,
Firstly, here is my experience with Laytheme :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IW6qQwFwiA&feature=youtu.be
Using a CDN does not work with this theme! I've tried three CDN's and all of which result in this themes code being horrid - slow and buggy. So not sure how you can conclude it is not a problem. A CDN is a massive boost to a sites loading time as well as helping with poorly coded themes and plugins ;)
It seems like you don't actually understand what a CDN does- and how it dramatically increases page load times. There are hundreds of page requests using this poorly coded theme that require so many server resources and time pulling images that it is limiting to what you can add to the pages of Laytheme!
http://paulpetch.co.nz/portfolio/chelsea-sugar-operations-photography-auckland/ has a plugin that truly serves smaller images as thumbs (via plugin) to then load the full sized images in the background so that when you do click on it- it loads instantly. It's a very clever and efficiently coded gallery that truly accomodates different browsers sizes and devices. In comparison Gridder and Laytheme lightbox are basic. All good ... if there is a CDN to help.....
Rather than blaming the issue on optimisation (images are compressed enough to yield a quality image and load time on large screens on BOTH sites - one of which has an efficient theme, gallery plugin and a CDN.....)- can you please add the ability to use a CDN and even better- develop a lightbox/ gallery that is clever- in that it truly delivers optimised images as thumbs/ galleries that cache the full size in the back end to deliver.
IN 2018 It should not even be an issue- themes should work with a CDN. The fact it does not indicates a problem.
There is also a resource that 404's for some reason?

Hey, yea I agree cdn compatibility would be great and I'm looking forward to implementing it one day. Until then feel free to use a different theme.

I went ahead and setup a new theme. Researched the standalone Gridder plugin used across other sites and noticed better behaviours, so took a gamble and purchased it.
Gridder plugin allows the CDN to work on a theme that is well developed. So now I have amazing load speeds inline with what was expected. More importantly, there are now no random no loads and all images load sequentially. https://gtmetrix.com/reports/forever1995.com/4bslszJF
I hope that helps.
Thanks :)

Dear @zero
ah perfect!Yes. LayTheme is limited to some Functionalities. Gridder is better if you want to work with the freedom of your own theme and code. It is not bound to a Single-Javascript-Application. Thank you for sharing!
Happy Christmas!
Marius
