Image compression
-
Hey! Thanks!
In Lay Theme the image compression is set to 100. WordPress always compresses images a bit when you upload an image. Even at 100 compression it compresses the image a tiny bit, so there's nothing more I can do there :(. -
Hey Armin,
Really good job with the plugin, I've enjoyed it so far, but I come across an issue with the image compression as well. When i upload a hi-res picture (2086x1482) that is 845ko, the outcome become a lot heavier, from 845 to 1200ko…
How do you bypass this?
Thanks in advance for your time.

Ok, I checked and found in setup.php the add_filter and set_jpeg_quality, by removing the few lines regarding the filter quality, I solve my issue.
How do you do for uploading hi-res picture? I downscale them beforehand and also use the RICG responsive image plugin.

The images in Lay Theme are already responsive, so your plugin probably won't help.
You could resize your hi res picture to 1920px width before you upload it.
I'm gonna make an image compression option, that's on my todo list. -
Yes that's actually what I did, prior to my resize picture was 7000px, I resize it to 1920px, then exported it for the web, before uploading the picture to Wordpress, the weight and size was ~845ko for 1920px then after uploading it to Wordpress it was 1200ko with same 1920px.
But nevertheless thank you for your time I hope that might help other people.

Hm ok, I will do an option for the image compression!
Before you post:
- When using a WordPress Cache plugin, disable it or clear your cache.
- Update Lay Theme and all Lay Theme Addons
- Disable all Plugins
- Go to Lay Options → Custom CSS & HTML, click "Turn Off All Custom Code", click "Save Changes"
This often solves issues you might run into
