    I have a version of my website up and running but I'm not happy with the design and want to start from scratch with my Lay Theme.

    Is it possible to start a new version from scratch 'behind the scenes' and then replace the live website with the new website when it's ready? I believe this is called 'staging'.

    If so what is the best way to do this? Ideally cost free.

    Thanks in advance

      Dear @johnszetho_
      that is the way. You would develop in on a local server with MAMP.
      Then you would upload it with a plugin or a database and FTP migration.

      Basically it is just a Wordpress Theme.

      Best!

          @mariusjopen

          Hi Marius, I've setup MAMP with a new Wordpress account in order to start designing from scratch on the local server. However, it's asking for a license key to activate the Lay Theme.

          Is there a way to do this without having to purchase the theme twice?

          My existing login doesn't seem to work through MAMP...

              hey guys

              on your staging server, just use lay theme without activating it.
              and then once you have moved the website, activate your key

              please note you can always deactivate and activate your key in "lay options" -> "license key"
              meaning once you have activated your key in "lay options" -> "license key", you can deactivate it there, and activate it on your staging server.

              However, I would probably just go with the first option. Unless you need to update lay theme on your staging server. In that case you need to have an activated license for the staging site.
