Hey guys,
I finally finished my website and got a handful of comments about the Loarding Times being very slow.
I checked various performance testing sites (google pagespeed insights, gtmetrix etc.) which confirmed it to be true. The loading times are even slower on the mobile version.
According to these sites the slowdown is being created by Laytheme (javascript) itself. I resized all thumbnail images on my index site to 50-80kb per image and the overall page is not that big in data volume, so that factor can be taken out of consideration.
I did not customize the theme at all and used just the simplest way possible in order to create this site. So I am asking you guys if there is any way to speed up the page? Any options I didn't see or plugins that might help?
Apart from the loading times I am very very much happy with everything Laytheme offers.
Thanks a bunch!

Dear @koliveros
Do you have any third-party plugins installed or CUSTOM JS code? Is it possible to deactivate it for a moment to see if the problem remains?
Many wishes!

Hey, have a bit of an emergency. I deactivated all plugins and removed all code from <head>
And it seemed slightly faster, but then I did the wordpress upgrade and now it won't show the rest of my site, it only shows the intro portion. Please help, I just applied to a job Im excited about and sent my link through and then I screwed my site up :/ -

I updated to the latest laytheme + latest wordpress and all good. The loading time is still an issue tho, I deactivated plugins and removed JS code (except for the one thats doing the parallax effect).
Let me know what I can do to help the load time, ty!

MariusCached plugins only help if the guest visits the site a second time correct? So the first time will still be super slow. Is there any chance you could please look at my code and see if there is anything you see as a red flag? Thank you!

Hey! Wanted to see if you were able to find out why my site is so slow. I'm working on another site now and running into the same issue, not sure maybe if I'm doing something wrong? Both sites are running on latest laytheme:
karenoliveros.com
waterschool.infopls lmk ty!
I also code custom websites or custom Lay features.

Before you post:
- When using a WordPress Cache plugin, disable it or clear your cache.
- Update Lay Theme and all Lay Theme Addons
- Disable all Plugins
- Go to Lay Options → Custom CSS & HTML, click "Turn Off All Custom Code", click "Save Changes"
This often solves issues you might run into
When you post:
- Post a link to where the problem is
- Does the problem happen on Chrome, Firefox, Safari or iPhone or Android?
- If the problem is difficult to explain, post screenshots / link to a video to explain it
