    Hei,
i am experiencing a strange new favicon on my website, since i updated worpress to v5.4. I like having no favicon at all, like it is predefined.
Do you have any suggestions how to get rid of it?

    Thanks
    Sebastian

Oh, it seems to be related to this:
      https://make.wordpress.org/core/2020/02/19/enhancements-to-favicon-handling-in-wordpress-5-4/

"As of WordPress 5.4, theme and plugin authors can manage favicon requests much more flexibly, with the following logic:

      • If there is a Site Icon set in Customizer, redirect /favicon.ico requests to that icon.
      • Otherwise, use the WordPress logo as a default icon.
      • If a physical /favicon.ico file exists, do nothing and let the server handle the request.
        [...]

      Deprecations
wp_favicon_request() is now deprecated in favor of do_favicon()."

Yea I wish I could just disable this but I can't see from the documentation on how I would go about doing that.

You can set your own new favicon in "Customize" -> "Favicon"
