Customize single post page
-
Hi,
I have few elements added for single posts (projects) such as year/type/etc. I want to show them on my single post page but I cannot seem to change it. I added single.php in my child theme and it goes blank. I am not familiar with JS scripting or cannot find the documentation for it for laytheme such as how to add header/body/footer.
I need to change it since I do not want to edit the 100s of data already on the site to have it in the editor. The data is already there so I want to pull it from the database and show it in single post page. What/How should I do it? Any help is highly appreciated.
If its not doable by php, how do I insert a block of elements pulled from db to just below the header area on a site by using js?
Thanks,
Chandra -
Dear @maharzan
We are a small team and we try our best to keep up with the many questions on the forum.
Regarding Changing the theme and/ or templates - we advise against this as stated in our Lay Theme documentation
We also don't recommend using child themes.
Especially because when updating the theme this can cause many problems, if the theme is altered we will have even more difficulty finding the problems. However we do wish to help is it possible to be specific about what exactly you wish to achieve and we can try from there
Thank you for your Patience and for using Lay Theme
Best wishes
SincerelyRichard

So, what do you recommend if we need to change some design? or just stick to what you have designed, no options at all? I just don't understand the idea behind this kind of theme design... Its utterly useless.. no one wants to stick to the default design.

Dear @maharzan
Im sorry that we don't provide support for wider customisation beyond our Custom CSS,HTML & JS options.
However many people do customize the design and there have been some wonderful outputs. We do provide options that we implement over time based on feedback from Lay Theme users with the intention of making it a better product for all.
If you feel that this Theme is not usable or somehow has caused you problems, we are happy to Refund you.
We wish to help
Sincerely
Richard
