Carousel and slider addon do not work

hi, im total amateur in everything coding, i would appreciate help!...
after updating my wordpress and updating all the lay theme plug ins, my website only showed the "white screen of death". I deactivetd all the plugins and in turns out when i activate the carousel or slider plug in the webiste turns white. what should i do now?
also wordpress tells me there is an update for laytheme but everytime i click "update here" nothing happens, laythemes doesnt seem to have any updated available?!

As a standard first 'steps of de-bugging'

Do you have any Third-party plugin's installed that when de-activated resolve the issue?

Do you have any Custom HTML or JS that when temporarily removed, resolves the issue?

Additionally do these threads provide any help for you?

it's definitely the carousel plugin. i deactivated all other plug ins. i deleted the laytheme plugins and try to reinstall them now...
But I also think it maybe has something to do with wordpress wanting me to update to lay theme version 2.7.1. which i'm not able to install. Maybe the plugins are a newer version then the laytheme in my wordpress?
The newest version is 3.4.8, right? Is it possible to update from the laytheme website?

@Richard-Keith I reinstalled the Carousel Plugin. wordpress tells me to update to the newest version of the plug in, but it sais "this plugin has not been tested with your wordpress version" so the problem may be that my laytheme version is too old for the carousel plugin
