Project Thumbnails with changing backgrounds...

My website (desktop) shows the background color on mouseover with the title centered on the image:

hayogebauer.com

If I switch to darkmode (scroll to bottom on the left) the mouseover still shows a white background instead of a dark blackground. How could I address this with CSS?

FYI: I got a workaround. I inserted a blank PNG for each project thumbnail mouseover.
