    Hello,

    On a specific hosting (to which I don't have full access to) every time I login to the Wordpress backend the theme fails and gets deactivated due to the following error:

    Error Details
    =============
    An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 270 of the file /home/luisci01/public_html/wp-content/themes/lay/theme_update_check.php. Error message: Uncaught Error: Attempt to modify property "response" on bool in /home/luisci01/public_html/wp-content/themes/lay/theme_update_check.php:270
    Stack trace:
    #0 /home/luisci01/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(309): ThemeUpdateChecker->injectUpdate(false)
    #1 /home/luisci01/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php(191): WP_Hook->apply_filters(false, Array)
    #2 /home/luisci01/public_html/wp-includes/option.php(1960): apply_filters('site_transient_...', false, 'update_themes')
    #3 /home/luisci01/public_html/wp-includes/update.php(787): get_site_transient('update_themes')
    #4 /home/luisci01/public_html/wp-admin/menu.php(33): wp_get_update_data()
    #5 /home/luisci01/public_html/wp-admin/admin.php(158): require('/home/luisci01/...')
    #6 /home/luisci01/public_html/wp-admin/edit.php(10): require_once('/home/luisci01/...')
    #7 {main}
     thrown

    I have the same exact copy of the website on WPEngine and this doesn't happen.

    I understand that this is maybe out of your support scope, but maybe you have an idea as to why this is happening?

    Thank you for your help!

    Best,
    Marco

      hey i saw this error too once

      go to your ftp and rename the "lay" folder in "wp-content" -> "themes" -> "lay" to something else

      this disables the theme

      now login to your /wp-admin/

      then rename that folder back to "lay"

      now activate lay theme again in your wp-admin
      this fixes it

        Hey @arminunruh thanks for your reply! However, this didn't solve it for me unfortunately. It seems like this happens from a certain version of the theme onwards and only on a specific website for me. Might it be related to the server, PHP8 or a specific Woocommerce plugin?

                Awesome @arminunruh ! Thank you for this. So all I need to do is to update Lay and all Lay plugins?
