Wanted to see if anyone has their website hosted by DreamHost and paid the extra for the "DreamPress" option with built-in caching? It doesn't come cheap at $16.95/month.... Did it make a noticeable speed difference to your website?

@arminunruh Do you have any experience with the built-in caching with DreamPress? Would you recommend this?

hey so i wouldn't recommend it, because the normal hosting package works with wordpress too - as almost any hosting does nowadays.

      https://www.dreamhost.com/features/wordpress-caching/

here they say: "Advanced Multi-Layer Technology
We’ve engineered several layers of caching that simply isn’t possible with a plugin-only approach. We apply caching to both your website and the hosting environment to optimize page speeds across the entire stack."

Thats the only info given and its a little vague, i would like to know what technology they use here

caching can be done using a wordpress plugin,
sure if they had redis installed maybe thats what they do idk:
      https://kinsta.com/docs/redis-cache/

maybe its better to buy hosting from a webhoster in your country. the server will be in your country. the visitors of your website may be in your country as well, so the server will respond a little faster because its closer to you

additionally you can follow this guide:

@arminunruh Thank you so much for that info Armin, that's very nice of you.

        I'm currently on DreamHost's Shared/Unlimited plan for $8.95/month: https://www.dreamhost.com/hosting/shared/#comparison-plans

        GreenGeek's premium plan is also $8.95/month: https://www.greengeeks.com/wordpress-hosting#section-pricing

Would I notice a speed difference changing to GreenGeeks?

Do you have a host/plan that you would recommend to provide the fastest loading wesbite?

i think i would first try this:
          https://laytheme.com/documentation/speeding-up-your-website.html

and then maybe get a webhost thats in your country

Would I notice a speed difference changing to GreenGeeks?

i think if you would use a caching plugin and if that makes your website faster you could try this first

do you have a link to your website?
which country do u live in?

I also code custom websites or custom Lay features.
          💿 Email me here: 💿
          info@laytheme.com

          Before you post:
          1. When using a WordPress Cache plugin, disable it or clear your cache.
          2. Update Lay Theme and all Lay Theme Addons
          3. Disable all Plugins
          4. Go to Lay Options → Custom CSS & HTML, click "Turn Off All Custom Code", click "Save Changes"

This often solves issues you might run into

          When you post:
          1. Post a link to where the problem is
          2. Does the problem happen on Chrome, Firefox, Safari or iPhone or Android?
          3. If the problem is difficult to explain, post screenshots / link to a video to explain it
