Image hover on images and products -
Image hover on images and productsHello Armin and Richard,
any news about an image hover that works on images or products yet?
Or at least linked images?
See this topic for more info:

Front page chaosHi Armin,
I have a total mix up with the front pages.
The front page that is selected in the customizer doesn't show up as front page.
The front page that is labeled as front page in the pages list doesn't shop up as front page, however the url of it does.
What does show up as front page is the last version I had of it, before I selected a new front page (but with the url of the "right" page, the one selected in backend). I use Polylang Pro but I have tried to change the name of the German translation of the front page and that might be where the mix up began.
Now I think the page number you had programmed to be the front page might have been changed? I can't change the pages anymore, the seem to be set now.
Please help! What I actually tried to do, was to get rid of the page name on the German front page, so that it would only be www.rosereichart.com/de instead of having a page name after the de/
Is that possible?I have also tried to update Wordpress a few weeks ago, with the result of not being able to log into my account anymore. Thankfully the update was stopped but now I'm a bit worried to try again.
Thanks so much!
Images: What I want to show up as German front page is the one shown in the backend, the one that's loaded is the old version and the one shown in Customize I selected just as test to see if anything would change but it doesn't. The English front page is the right one, however I can't change that anymore either, so something is wrong there as well.

Sold / Out of Stock BadgeHello Richard,
I was also looking for a Sold Out badge, but one that's more visible, directly on the product image for example.
I have tried to use this plugin for it https://wordpress.org/plugins/sold-out-badge-for-woocommerce/ but unfortunately there were several problems with the placement on desktop and mobile and also the z-index ( I think?) that I couldn't solve. My questions are:
- Can something like a simple "Sold Out" badge be included in future updates?
A badge that shows both in the shop overview and the single product?
For now:
- How can I change the Lay Theme "out of stock" text to "sold out"?
- How can I show this message in the single product when I have "show stock" disabled? I only want the stock to show if it's sold out, since it doesn't really make sense to have 1 in stock written on every product when it's original art.
But I think hiding the stock also hides the sold out message in the single product.
Or what would actually be ideal for the Single product view: Is there a way to change the "Add to Cart" Button to a "Sold Out" Button (in a different style of course)?
I think that might be visually clearer.Thank you!

Split (second) menu points left and right of top centered site title logo@Richard ah that's clever, thank you very much!
Could you please also get back to me about the other open questions? :)
Thank you and have a nice day! -
Polylang Category Translations not linked@Richard oh and sorry, for some reason I still can't upload screenshots (even though I resized them). But you can see what I mean when you go to this link https://rosereichart.com/de/kategorie/blog/ (the german version of the blog) and then you click on "English", which should send you here https://rosereichart.com/category/journal/ (the english version of the blog) but instead what's happening is that it redirects you back to the front page.
-
Polylang Category Translations not linked@Richard No, I'm using only lay theme for this. I'm adding a category (blog/journal) where I'll put the "blog posts" (projects) as image links.
I've added the category (blog/journal) to the menu (but it's also the same with an individual link added to the menu, that happens to be a category). When the category is opened and one wants to change the language via the language switcher, the category page redirects to the front page, not the translated category page.
Since the language switcher option works on everything else with lay theme (pages, projects, menu points that are not categories) it looks to me like there might just be missing some code that connects the category languages?Since this can't be solved with adding an individual menu link, because the problem seems to be with the "category" type, it seems to me like it would have to be solved with code to lay theme.
The translations of the categories are present in the backend. Just the switching between the languages doesn't work on the live page.
Please help, thank you!

Image hover on images@Richard said in Image hover on images:
http://laythemeforum.com:4567/topic/6087/imagehover-on-element-grid-lightbox-on-carousel/2
Hey Richard, thanks for the link. I might try it, but the thing is that this would be great for all images/product shots. For now the first collection I'd like to use this for "only" has nine photos where it might still make sense to code the image hover for each image individually. But the next collection that's already finished has 45 pieces and I think at some point this it will be too timeconsuming to add the custom code for each individual image.
It would be really fantastic if with future updates the image hover could be extended to images (which I actually thought it was for, to be honest 😬 ).
It would also be great for the Woocommerce product images, but I understand that that's probably more complicated to achieve. So maybe adding an image hover option that works with "regular" images (not products images) would be an option to start with? :)
Thank you!

Split (second) menu points left and right of top centered site title logo@Richard yes, it's still an issue because I still would like my logo to be in the center of the page with the menu points split left and right.
This was just a design for now, until I know how to do this.
So if that's at all possible, I'd love to know how to do it!
Thanks so much and have a nice day! -
Menu bar insert instead of overlay@Richard yes perfect, thank you!

Polylang Category Translations not linkedHey @richard & @arminunruh !
I'm using polylang pro on my site and so far it has worked without a problem.
But now I've started using the categories for a blog type thing and I've noticed that the language switcher doesn't work on the categories.
It works on pages and projects but on the category overview (though linked in the backend) when clicking on the other language it redirects to the front page, not the translation.
Here's the link:
https://rosereichart.com/de/kategorie/blog/Would be great if this could be fixed!
Thanks! -
Image hover on imagesHey Richard,
is there a way to use the image hover on other images? Or at least on linked images?
I know that linked product thumbnails can't change but I thought I'd work around this by manually adding an image that links to the product. But I'd like for a second image of the product to be shown on hovering over the first image. Tried to get this done with css but couldn't get it to work.It would be fantastic if the Image Hover addon would also work on images!
Like here for example:

Menu bar insert instead of overlay@Richard ok sorr,y, the problem isn't totally solved after all.
So I did add a frame on top so on the normal pages everything works fine with the menu now, but on the cart page the problem persists, that the top line is covered by the menu (https://rosereichart.com/cart/)
How can I solve this?
Sorry for the back and forth on this..
Thank you! -
Menu bar insert instead of overlay@Richard never mind, I just found this support article (didn't find anything before) but it solved my problem I think :)

Menu bar insert instead of overlayHello Richard,
I was just working on my menu bar (see my other question) and I'm very confused about the behavior of the menu bar. I thought it would be "inserted" on top of the page (like an extra row on top), not that it is just put "on top" (overlaying) what's already there underneath.See example below:
I need about 60px for the menu bar to actually work as the background for my menu points. But at that height, the menu bar "hides" the top of my pages, which I don't want. (for example in the cart, the top line just vanishes, because it is hidden by the menu bar).
Only at about 30px height would that line be visible again, but then on other pages, the menu bar is not high enough for the menu points to fit.
I don't understand why the menu isn't just "inserted" on the top of the page, like a seperate row would be in the gridder.
Is there any css that I can use so the menu bar is just always on top and doesn't hide the upper part of my pages?
I hope I explained this understandably.
Thanks again!Edit: for some reason I can't add the screenshots, I hope you understand what I mean without them.

Split (second) menu points left and right of top centered site title logoHey Richard,
I have an issue with my menu and site title.
I'm using the first menu for the language switcher, positioned on the top right of the page.
The second menu is for my "regular menu points", positioned in the top center of the page.
Right now, when I activate the site title logo, it's behind/overlayed by the second menu.
I'd like for my Logo to be in the center of the page and then have the menu points split equally left and right of the logo. (For example three menu points left and three menu points right of the logo).
Is that possible?
Thank you and have a nice day! -
Urgent: stuck with product styling, please help@arminunruh thanks so much for helping with this! The customizer definitely helps now.
I notice that the headline and the short product description still has a very confined width. For example the headline can only be about two words, before it already moves into the next line, and something similar happens with the subhead/short product description.
Maybe for the next update this could be customizable too, but definitely not as urgent as the last issue :)
Thanks again!

Urgent: stuck with product styling, please help@Richard
Hello Richard, thanks for the reply, unfortunately it didn't help at all this time.
As I have said before, I've tried working with the "spaces" in the customizer but this changes nothing.
The image is still higher than the browser and thus not visible fully.
Also the text is unaffected by changing the spaces too. It's still very narrow (unless I add the css but as I said this brings new issues).
So the customizer doesn't work for this.Everything is up to date.
Also for the text/image issue, yes, the line that you marked is the only thing that's text. That's because it's not the product description but the product short description which is filled in in the backend in a different text field.
Everything below this is the full product description and only shows up as an image. The carousel is swipeable, which on the mobile makes sense but on desktop with the dots below that are not clickable it's very confusing. To me, it would make sense to click on them or click on the image for it to change. Not to have to drag it with the mouse. That seems very unintuitive to me.
Please tell me how to fix this!
The most urgent thing for me right now is that the photo should be visible fully, and not only the upper half.
Thanks. -
Woocommerce carouselMy woocommerce carousel doesn't seem to work.
Not sure why. The gallery is uploaded but nothing happens when I click the circles to move to the next photo.
