@Richard thank you, I solved it. After years of struggle, the site works in two languages.
Thanks to the workaround mentioned in the forum. But by nature Lay doesn't allow a landing page in two languages. So it should be mentioned in the documentation how to make this work.

Agreed. I also find it especially frustrating because Polylang is mentioned in the documentation as the plugin of choice. I just switched from WPML because I thought that would finally fix it.
In my opinion, Laytheme should not make the claim of supporting multilanguage (I love Lay, but this gives me trouble for years).
@Bella thank you for sharing the problem regarding the duplication of content. I'm glad I haven't bought the Pro version yet. If this doesn't work and every translated page starts empty, this plugin is almost useless I would say.
Because a gridder page can be quite complex and to rebuild it again every time is impossible.
Good Luck to us. Please share your findings.
Anybody here has experience with Polylang?
I'm completely lost here.
That's the site in question: https://practice.de/
I used WPML before but it never fully worked so now I've switched to Polylang because it's the recommended plugin in the Laytheme documentation. But everything got worse since I switched.
I've already hired a fiverr developer from Bangladesh and he said Laytheme doesn't work with Polylang.
What's going on? Why is it mentioned as the plugin of choice?
Preferably somebody who's not living in Bangladesh and speaks good English or even German.
That was indeed helpful. Thank you Richard, almost there.
When I close the menu now, it jumps to 100% width to fill the screen and closes from there. And it doesn't close when click besides the menu, that would make a lot of sense.
I give up the special placing of the language switcher, that's clearly a bit more work.
Can somebody help me to customize a mobile menu (Style 2).
It's not much I need to change but it exceeds my abilities.
The attached images show what I need (left side shows the current status): https://practice.de/
- Lines between menu points.
- The menu should fill the screen horizontally only 70%.
- A shadow on the left edge.
- Language names should be placed at the bottom.
If this is too much to explain in a few lines, I'm also read to pay someone to do it.
All the best and thank you for your help — Ben
Thank you very much to all people in this thread.
I can't believe I managed to set up my accordion almost perfectly (although I'm not understanding much CSS and no jQuery at all).
You can see it here: https://practice.de/faq-2/
Just one last thing I can't seem to get right:
The text inside the panels needs space to the top and the bottom, but doing it with padding affects also the closed panels. How do I do that correctly?
Besides, I would like the button to change to grey only on hover, but get back to white when the panel is active. How can I achieve that?
All the best — BEN
