maybe a character text format?
in textformats, create a new textformat of type "character"
now just use a small fontsize

then write your text like 1. hello

then select 1. and then click textformats (in the texteditor) → and choose your character textformat

character textformats can be applied to just a few letters in a paragraph, thats what they are for

This kind of thing is very possible with some Custom CSS inserted into:

Lay Options > Custom CSS & HTML > Custom CSS >
