    Hello again,

    I have found the solution for my previous problem of 404 and 403 errors.
    With FileZila i figured out that when i've changed the permalinks option it has created an .htaccess by default.
    The problem was that I already had a customized .htaccess in my /wp folder.
    It's the combination of these two files that caused these problems, for your information, the .htaccess created by Wordpress appeared in the folder /

    Hey @Richard
    Thank you a lot for this test !

    Furthermore, I still have a question about that :

    • Does every elements are still at the same place in the grid after you re-installed the theme ? with class attributed ?

    Thank you so much for clarifying that point.

    I have still a lot of problem to struggle with, but I guess to change the permalinks has created a conflict with my .htaccess.

    As I did in the past, I will write the solution here if I find it.

    Hello,

    Since today I have some problems with my website.
    If you visit my website now, it looks like this : http://www.borders.digital/ (an error 403)
    Here is what happened :

    • when I started working on my website, I did a 1st version of it. It is a One paged website, so the whole website was on my frontpage.
    • after some feedback, i decided to duplicate this frontpage to do modification while saving my past version : I started to do modifications on the copy page from my first version.
    • then I realised that I was not able to set a different frontpage.
      In the "Appearance > Customize" there was no "front-page" section.
    • i deleted the 1st version of the duplicated page which was the front page set by default
    • since then, my frontpage is empty and i still don't have the option to change the frontpage in the "Customize" section.
      You can have a look here : http://www.borders.digital/wp
      And i actually don't really get why I have to add the /wp to see something appear, it is another problem that cames later**. At this moment of the story, the adress www.digital.borders was correct, without the 403 error yet, and showed exactly what you can see in the previous link : An empty frontpage**
    • I have read that reinstall the theme could be a solution, but i was afraid to lose my content, i have a lot of custom CSS / HTML / JS
      so I chose to not do that
    • Then, after reading tons of topics, and becoming more and more lost about this problem, i decided to change the permalinks to "post-name", i guess before it was "plain" but I dont really remember, at this moment i basically did a stupido thing.
    • then the 403 error appeared right after that
      plus, the page i wanted to set as frontpage now give me a 404 error : http://www.borders.digital/digital-borders/
    • Plus, since then i have to add the /wp in the url adress to get anything shown

    Honestly i feel like it's a big mess, I don't really know what to change to repair my website. I have some information i get from my research, but I don't really get what is important or not.

    If you can understand anything from this situation, I would be grateful to receive some help and advice.

    And definitely, I would like to know that :

    • what will happen if I reainstall the Laytheme ? Will I lose my CSS / HTML / JS customization ? What about the page (the one I want to set as my frontpage), is there any possible lose there ?

    Thank you a lot

    Hello @arminunruh
    I have the same problem than told previously in this topic.
    The fact is I've duplicated my previous frontpage to change the design.
    Now it is impossible to get the frontpage option in my Customize window and the website is empty as I deleted the previous frontpage.

    I saw that the solution could be to reinstall the theme, but I need to know if there is any risk to lose my pevious work (custom css / html / javascript and class associated to element in the grid, and the page etc...) ?

    Here is the website : http://www.borders.digital/
    And the page I want to set as the frontpage : http://www.borders.digital/digital-borders

    Thank you

    Hi everyone !

    Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the smooth scrolling effect with anchor set by default ?

    Plus, the best would be to remove it for some specific link but not for the main menu, any idea ?

    Thank you !

    ! Edit !

    An element with a sticky position will add a new problem : the content that comes after this sticky element will jump up.

    THE PROBLEM :

    When you add a "position : sticky;" to any content in the grid, it removes it from its place and sticks it at the top of the page. This is why the rest of your content jumps up - the "sticky element" is not where it was anymore, the area is considered free for the next content of your grid.

    SOLUTION :

    I have created a new Class called ".nav-wrapper", and add to it the same height as my ".sticky"
    Here are now the two class (in the CSS section)

    /* sticky position */
        .sticky {
            position: -webkit-sticky;
            position: sticky;
            top:0px;
            height:500px;
        }

        /* avoid jump up with sticky element :
        put the <div class="sticky"></div> inside of a <div class="nav-wrapper"></div>
        give them the same height*/
        .nav-wrapper {
            top:0px;
            height:500px;
        }

    You are done with the CSS customization

    Now you need to go to your page editor, select the element you want to get sticky and remove the html class "sticky"

    Then, go to your text editor
    */!\ I have no idea of how it could work with image/video, good luck/!*
    In your text editor, open the source code and add the following code :

    /* add this -->*/ <div class="nav-wrapper"><div class="sticky">
    <p></p>
    </div></div> /*<-- add this */

    • It works !

    note : I recommand to add a "background-color" to your .sticky and .nav-wrapped while you are working on it, just to get a better understanding of what is happening

    note 2 : I'm new in coding with html / css, I hope my explanation are not false and understandable, but anyway, it works !

    HOLY SHOT

    I've found a solution, so I answer here to every users who will be as lost as I was !

    I recommand this page to unerstand how Sticky works :
    https://elad.medium.com/css-position-sticky-how-it-really-works-54cd01dc2d46

    • First, forget about the "overflow" problem, there is nothing to do with it.
    • Add this to the HTML section
    <script>
    jQuery (document).ready(function() {
      var stickyTop = jQuery ('.sticky').offset().top;

      jQuery (window).scroll(function() {
        var windowTop = jQuery (window).scrollTop();

        if (stickyTop < windowTop) {
          jQuery ('.sticky').css('position', 'fixed');
        } else {
          jQuery ('.sticky').css('position', 'relative');
        }
      });
    });
           </script>

    • Add this to your CSS section :
    .sticky {
        position: sticky;
        top: 0;
    }

    • Now you can add the class "sticky" to your element in the grid.
    • It works !

    Hello everyone,

    first, I know there is several topics about Sticky function on Laytheme.
    I've been looking for a solutions through them, but every topics takes end with the same conclusion : It doesnt work yet, and the LayTheme developer are working on a lay option.

    So, I'm trying hard on it, and what I've found is this script :

        <script>
    jQuery (document).ready(function() {
      var stickyTop = jQuery ('.sticky').offset().top;

      jQuery (window).scroll(function() {
        var windowTop = jQuery (window).scrollTop();

        if (stickyTop < windowTop) {
          jQuery ('.sticky').css('position', 'fixed');
        } else {
          jQuery ('.sticky').css('position', 'relative');
        }
      });
    });
           </script>

    then, I understood that maybe the "sticky" function doesnt work because of the overflow, so i've added this :

    #grid {
    overflow : auto !important;
    }

    As it doesnt make any difference, I've tried to inherite / unset the overflow, and even to apply this to the grid-inner and to the html (I don't know if it makes sens but anyway, it doesnt change anything as well...)

    Nonetheless, i've noticed that something is happening with my sticky element : when I scroll down, it disappears in a strange way
    I let you check that : http://www.borders.digital/25-2-2

    It makes me think that something could work.

    As I'm still a novice, I'm asking for help,
    Does anyone understand better than me what is going on ?
    What could I change ?

    And if any Lay Developer come here : Is a Sticky option will be released in a near future ?

    Thank you for reading !
