I have the same problem and have narrowed it down a bit:
Grids in project overlays not shown starting with Version 8.1.8
I think the problem I started in general discussion is a bug:
Problem with grids in overlays
starting with version 8.1.8 grids with photos in projects are no longer displayed when opened as overlays.
To even notice the problem, the browser cache has to be cleared first.
I took a close look at the problem on my website. It started with the update to 8.1.8. If I go back to 8.1.7, the grids also work with overlay pages. Most likely a bug in 8.1.8. In my case, the problem went unnoticed for some days as it only became visible when I cleared the browser cache. The cache means that it goes unnoticed on pages that have already been accessed. I have now switched back to 8.1.7 and hope for a fix for the current versions.
I am using overlays for projects on my new website that I am currently designing.
When a project page is opened, the overlay itself works, but grid elements such as Element Grid or Thumbnail Grid are not displayed unless you are in the smallest display width (mobile).
Here is the link: https://testscheible.de
There is a thumbnail on the page that displays the text “Test Error with grids in Overlay”. If you click on it, you can see that other page elements such as text or individual images are displayed. But grid elements remain white.
When clicking on other project thumbails, you can see that no images are displayed, although the HTML code seems to be there.
If you reload the browser, which then loads the overlay as a normal page, the grids are displayed. In small display width too.
Switching off all custom elements such as special CSS and Javascript does not help. Switching off all plugins does not help either.
Unfortunately I don't know what to do and would be grateful for help.
Thank you, Wolfram
thank you, I found another way. I use a row inside the page to simulate a footer. That's a little bit of work, but it's okay for me.
Would it be possible to automate with JavaScript that the background colour of the last grid line is copied to the footer too? I use overlays for projects and some pages.
Thank you for your detailed help. I switched "Mobile Site Title" to "is fixed" and "move away when scrolling down" like the settings in "Site Title". This works as expected and is fine for my use.
I use Design > Customizer > Site Title > Site Title > is fixed > ON.
If leave this deactivated in Design > Customizer > Mobile (Smartphone) > Mobile Site Title > is fixed > OFF, then the logo on the smartphone normally moves during scrolling with the content as expected. But unfortunately there is a situation where the "fixed” is still active:
The conditions in my case:
Design > Customizer > Menu Style > Menu Bar > hide > ON
I use an image as Site Title in both media width
I use a Project Thumbnail Grid at the beginning of my main page
The project thumbnails are partly covered by the Title Image (as desired)
Lay Options > Activate project overlay
I am on my main page
I do not scroll down
I click on one of the project thumbnails
The corresponding project opens as an overlay
But during scrolling through the project, Mobile Site Title stays fixed and does not scroll with the content, although Mobile Site Title > is fixed > OFF
On my main page, if I scroll down until the title image is out of view before clicking on the project thumbnail, the logo stays out of sight.
I turned off all my custom JS and CSS, but the problem still exists. So I think this is a bug.
Thanks for the great theme and the nice functions. Working with it is great.
