<p dir="auto">I am currently redoing my website with the help of Lay Theme. When I set a background image or colour it spans across the whole width of the page.</p>
<p dir="auto">Is it possible to limit the width of the background image / colour to the width of the column?</p>

That's kind of a workaround that I see at the moment.</p>
