Link to carousel slide

This may have been asked before but can anyone point to how to link to a particular slide in a carousel from a hyperlink on another page.
With the flickity slider it was possible using javascript but I don't know how to with the updated carousel I notice that we can target the data id of the slide but wondering if anyone has done this already?
