WP 5.3 “Kirk” vs Lay Theme

Hello.

We use Lay Theme to be able to customize each page using the grid.
Now that WordPress 5.3 “Kirk” is out, could we do the same, with a custom theme, and thus not use Lay Theme?

I am not sure if you would have the same options like you have with Lay.
You can also have a look into LayGridder.
