HTML5 videos from mp4

Hi,

I’m having trouble adding a mp4 to html5 video on a project. I uploaded the mp4 and it shows and plays correctly in my media library. When in the project I select add html5 video and then select add mp4. I select it but it doesn’t add. The placeholder jpg adds without an issue.

I’ve embedded the YouTube link for now but would far rather use the html5 video instead. Can you advise why this is a problem? I’ve tried this previously and gave up then too.

Any advise would be appreciated.

did u update lay theme and disable any caching pugins?
did u use https://handbrake.fr/ to encode the video to a mp4 to make sure it really is a mp4?

Hi Armin,
I didn’t bother attempting this at the time. But I’m now trying to resolve the problem again. I converted the mp4 to webm video and when I drop it into the browser it plays perfectly. However, when I updated lay theme and deactivated my caching plug ins this morning, it still won’t work. I’m really struggling having to use Vimeo/YouTube links! I’m now creating more film work and need the ability to use laytheme with video in the same way I do my photography. The only plug in I didn’t disable is Jet pack. As last time I did that, the site disappeared and I had to reinstall it from back up. Could jet pack be the problem here? Or is this something you can look into with my log in details?
