    https://www.nataschalibbert.nl/

    Browser and device details:
    Safari version: 27.0.1 (22625.1.29.11.28)
    Device: iPhone 13 mini
    iOS version: 27.0.1

    Hi,

My client noticed that unexpected vertical spacing appears between certain menu items on her website when viewed in Safari, both on desktop and mobile.

In Firefox, the menu displays correctly, without these extra spaces.

    Issue:

    • Unexpected blank spaces appear between certain menu items.
    • The issue occurs in Safari on both desktop and iPhone.
    • The spacing is inconsistent and does not appear in Firefox.
    • The issue is visible in the attached screenshots.

    Expected behavior:

    • Menu items should appear with consistent vertical spacing, as they do in Firefox.

Could you please investigate whether this is a Safari-specific rendering issue and advise on how to resolve it?

    Thank you!

Ok, please remove the menu points, and type them in again.
the texts currently contain invisible linebreak text characters.
      Thats why!

      Heres the long generated explanation:

      Hi,

I found the cause. This is not a Safari or Lay Theme bug, but is caused by invisible characters in the content of the Menu page.

Several menu entries contain a hidden U+2028 LINE SEPARATOR character, followed by a regular line break. Safari interprets this as two line breaks, which creates the additional vertical spacing. Firefox handles this combination differently.

The affected entries include “Undermined”, “I Went Looking for a Ship”, “False Flat”, “Archive”, “Cultural institutions/editorial”, and “KLM portfolio”.

Please edit the Menu page in both the desktop and phone layouts, completely delete the affected text, and type it again manually. Do not copy and paste the existing text, as this may preserve the invisible characters. Afterwards, clear the Lay Theme cache.

No theme update or custom CSS should be necessary.
