HTTP error when uploading media

Im working on a project locally using MAMP, i get an HTTP error whenever i try to upload any media to my project. Any idea how to solve this, im new to wordpress, new to laytheme and new to website building in general.

does the problem remain when you start with a fresh Wordpress installation without LayTheme?

@mariusjopen I have already built a large amount of my website without any issues, would starting with a fresh wordpress installation loose all my work up to this point?
