Lightbox plugin: on click fade out original image

Hello,

I was wondering if it is possible to fade out the original image on click on a lightbox image. I would like to resize/enlarge the image and at the same time fade out the original (small) image. Fade it back in when the lighbox is closed…

Is it possible? This is my idea but I can't get this code to work:
