Use project thumbnail widget on project page

I would like to use the project thumbnail widget (not sure what the right terminology is there) on the page of the project itself. This dosent seems possible? All other projects come up as options but not the project of the page I am editing.

by clicking +project thumbnail

why would you want to do that?
