I reinstalled wordpress manually via FTP, uploaded the new version of Lay Theme, reuploaded all the images, and reconnected the database via wp-config. It seems to be running fine again.
Unclear what the actual problem was. Also possible that the server was contaminated.

a website I built a while ago with Wordpress and Lay Theme, which was free at the time, stopped working (hard to say when exactly). It doesn’t display any contents and it’s also impossible to open …/wp-admin. It’s difficult to find the problem, and just to exclude possible reasons, I am wondering if it’s possible that it has to do with a new – or now commercial – version of Lay Theme. Feedback is appreciated.

I’ve been trying to install / implement the MailChimp plugin for a site running with Lay which basically links an input form directly to your MailChimp account. Unfortunately it seems like the theme doesn’t allow me to either use the shortcode provided by the plugin, nor to set up the form manually via hand written code. Any leads / experience how to make this work would be appreciated!
